We're doing some preliminary design work for a super cool website that we can't tell you anything about because we signed a paper that says we will get in big trouble if we do. But it's really cool, trust me! Man, I wish I could tell you guys.
Bicycle Film Festival site went live a few days ago!
Wow... what a month it's been! This year's Bicycle Film Festival materials are turning out great: the poster/program went off to the printer on Tuesday, and the new site will be up within the next few days. Sarah's working on the BFF trailers, which are coming out awesome, as well as some new stuff for Shu Uemura and Guy Carpenter, and the 2007 cut of the Medium Rare reel. We've completely redeveloped the back end of the David Bouley site, incorporating a content management admin and a robust mailing list management system. Next up: St. Ann's Warehouse, George Steinmetz and Gnarlyvines.
It's been a while since our last update! We got back from Asia (photos will be up soonish!) and landed neck deep in work, so it's been tough to get time to post anything new here. But we're back, and we're alive and kicking! Sarah did a couple of jobs for Kiehl's recently, one for the star-studded launch of their new LA store, and has also re-done her reel, which will be posted soon as well. We also helped Talking Eyes Media launch their new film Collateral Damage with some technology upgrades to their site. Ed Kashi's Multimedia Archive has gone live, and after a few delays, we're starting work with Flyleaf on the new St Ann's Warehouse site. We're also very excited to be working with photographer George Steinmetz to redesign his website, and we're in the midst of some behind-the-scenes upgrades to David Bouley's site. On the personal side, we're very happy that spring is arriving soon so we can come out of winter hibernation.
The holidays are upon us! As Sarah and I get geared up for our monthlong tour of Southeast Asia, we're working our tails off to finish up some great projects. We just delivered some posters to American Diagnostica, our newest client. If phrases like Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura make your head spin, don't worry: THEY know what it means! Some new motion work also just went out to Guy Carpenter and the YES network. We're also working on a site for our friend Evan's first feature film, Windcroft (which Sarah did the titles for a few months ago), getting started on a new site for Music For Picture, and some new motion graphics work for Shu Uemura.
Hermes' family rescued a trio of pit bull puppies, Ben, Libby and Percy. The three were found by the side of the road a few weeks ago, and were all in pretty rough shape: they had mange, worms, intestinal parasites and parvo. In addition, Percy had been hit by a car and lost his leg. It's with great sadness that I write to announce the passing of Percy the puppy. His body gave out early Friday morning.
Medium Rare is unalterably opposed to breed-specific legislation, and supports the Pit-Bull Rescue Center. If you wish to help support Ben and Libby's recovery, please contact us.
We just found out we got an Adobe Site of the Day award for CBSgotJACKD.com!
I'd like to thank the Academy, my producers, my manager...
In other news, we'll be starting work on the new and improved St. Ann's Warehouse website with our peeps over at Flyleaf soon. And last, but not least, we come up 5th when you do a Google search for Medium Rare. Considering that we have nothing to do with food, that's pretty impressive!
Forget Columbus Day, we went biking through Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow for Sarah's birthday today!
Sarah and Tom got married... again! We'll be putting up more details about the amazing wedding when we have some time to put together a gallery.
It's been an incredibly busy couple of months! We just launched CBSgotJACKd.com for CBS TV and CBS Radio, we wrapped the Saladino CMS, are almost done with photojournalist Ed Kashi's new site, and we'll be getting started on the new St. Ann's Warehouse site soon! Oh yea... and Sarah and I are getting married next week!
We're proud to announce the launch of saladinostyle.com! Check it out.
Our AC is broken. Holy crap it's hot. Looking at pictures of Reykjavik online isn't cutting it anymore. Somebody fax us something cold, please.
The Bicycle Film Festival is going on now! Medium Rare was in attendance at the 9pm screening of B.I.K.E. last night which was followed by a heated, comical, and overall very entertaining Q&A session with the filmakers. Be sure to check out the trailer Sarah created for the Festival in our work section!
All kinds of good stuff: The trailer for the Bicycle Film Festival, with music by The Death Set, is just about wrapped. It should be up on the BFF site within a couple of days. The AJC Archives website launched last week at their Centennial meeting. Check out their coverage. And speaking of The Death Set, they played yesterday with Lifetime (side note... holy crap! Lifetime has it's own Wikipedia page, as does Dan Yemin.), an old favorite of mine, at the Court Tavern in New Brunswick, NJ. I got to see tons of people I haven't seen in years, including my buddy Ronen of Kamikaze Words.
Apparently Moses Teitelbaum, the grand rabbi of the Satmar Hasidim died this afternoon. I understand that it's a big event, and I would like to be a good neighbor, but does it really warrant a fucking police hellicopter circling my apartment for the whole night while I try to sleep? I mean, are they expecting to find Hasids running wild in the streets, torching stores and flipping cars? Doing a little reading (since I'm not sleeping...), apparently they do think that there might be rioting. There are unresolved questions of succession which have sparked violence in the past. Fascinating stuff.
The Bicycle Film Festival poster/programs have hit the streets in NYC! Check out the production slideshow.
We got a mention yesterday for our poster for the Bicycle Film Festival at the AIGA small talk with Future Farmers. Thanks to Amy Franceschini for the shout out!
We just put up some new material for our boy jukefive, including a new splash page and his Profina animation. We're also doing work for this year's Bicycle Film Festival, including the program/poster, trailer and a DVD.
Congratulations to Hermes, our programmer, on his new baby girl! Sophia Delaney Costell was born at 9:30pm on April 6th, 2006, weighing in at a whopping 10.5 pounds!
We now have a water cooler. I guess that makes us official or something.
Updates have been fewer lately because we've been swamped with all kinds of great work, most notably our website for the American Jewish Committee's Archive which is expected to launch in May. Also getting started on SaladinoStyle.com with our friends over at Hutter Design, as well as a redesign of Ed Kashi's website. We're also going to be doing work with David Bouley, which is very exciting to our tastebuds!
